Diablo 4 Item Upgrades
The item upgrade allows players to increase the level of equippable items like trinkets, weapons, and armor over a certain threshold. You can upgrade items at any NPC that accepts the appropriate currency.
Slots are used to components to upgrade equipment to gain attributes bonuses and other effects. Most upgrades are slot-restricted but some are universal.
Rerolling
A player can roll an item upgrade in Diablo 4. This is done by using the Level Up feature, which suspends the game and displays four randomly selected upgrades. The player can select one of the upgrades and continue the battle. Rerolling is the same price as a regular Level Up. However, players must be careful when choosing an upgrade because they won't know what the new stats will be until the item has been changed.

Costs

Upgrade components can be put into weapons, armor and trinkets. They can also be mounted to gathering tools. Most upgrade components can only be replaced by an Upgrade Extractor. The exception is glyphs that can be salvaged using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Depending on the kind of item, upgrading an item may cost Dilithium or gold. Additionally, many upgrades require Flightstones and/or crests. The number of crests and Flightstones needed to upgrade an item varies on the gear's level, and a maximum upgrade level is set by Blizzard. Upgrading to the highest upgrade level can be expensive particularly if you're upgrading PvE gear.
